Fitness, dance and functional training classes are among the most popular activities at Club La Santa and we have a long-standing tradition of high-quality classes with skilled instructors.

 

Most classes take place outdoors on The Lawn, 5-a-side, Volcano or Laguna areas but we also have an indoor dance studio and a fully equipped CrossFit area and bar park where many of our functional training classes take place.

Group activities at Club La Santa are a mixture of aerobics, functional training, fitness and dance. We are constantly renewing, reviewing and improving our group exercise classes and activities, so the following is only a guide to the activities we offer. What is functional training?

Functional training is focused on movement patterns that have a purpose. A functional exercise is one that strengthens you in a particular way, that translates directly to a specific activity and makes it easier to perform. The activity could be something as simple as walking or getting in and out of a chair, or as complex as preparing to complete in a sport such as tennis or swimming. Functional workouts typically consist of compound exercises such as squats, lunges and deadlifts. This type of exercise requires more than one muscle group to work together, mimicking every day movement patterns.
